SCHOOL
The rush is magical. Waking up late, packing up lunch, running late while not finding the other sock, homework, projects, uniforms, sharpeners; The air is just bustling with the chatter of thousands of students, thick with the smell of yummy lunches, disturbed by the sound of the mic crackling and the in-charge teacher summoning us down for assembly. While the choir forgot the lyrics in the prayer, the head-girl stumbled upon her words while delivering the school pledge. It's a relief that we didn't forget the National Anthem. The disciplined rows of students getting restless, the teachers pointing out messy hair and long nails, the one-arm distances, and most importantly, the re-arrangement of the class height order after two long years.
Sprint back to class to secure seats for ourselves and our friends and avoid the first row. Rushedly finishing the due homework in between periods before the teachers arrive, strolling on the corridors with the excuse of using the washroom and then, lunch break. Turn chairs to sit together, hog the 'good' lunches, go to other sections to meet our friends, and grab lunch from their boxes as well. Enquiring whether the teacher was checking the homework if she conducted a particular test or just what kind of a mood she was in
Just the vibe of it is so refreshing, but one thing remains constant - you never concentrate during classes despite offline. Passing notes, whispering, doodling on the images of people in the textbook, singing songs, sneakily eating snacks, and running to the van after school so you get the window seat.
School just re-opened after two years of online classes and I missed it. The experience is just unparalleled. It's just a second home and your chosen family.
